Fiber reflector, also known as fiber Bragg grating filter, is usually installed in the front end of ONU of optical network. Combined with OTDR equipment, it can realize the point-to-point (PTP) or point-to-multipoint (PTMP) network monitoring of optical link, which can reflect the network abnormality quickly and accurately; The SC fiber (FBG) reflector provided by HYC has the advantages of low insertion loss, high reflectivity, convenient installation, etc., and is an ideal optical device for network link monitoring; It is widely used in PON network、OTDR testing, central computer room testing, FTTX and other fields.

End-to-end OTDR measurement from OLT to ONT is often difficult because of the high losses and complex network that taps bring. The application of fiber optic reflectors is a cost-effective solution to help OTDR detection and is the best way to achieve real-time end-to-end (OLT to ONT) monitoring of optical networks in FTTx networks.


How to use?

Usually the optical fiber reflector is installed on the ONU side, OTDR detects the intensity of the optical signal reflected back from this reflector by comparing the return loss value between the normal line and the faulty link, so as to determine whether the optical fiber in the link is damaged or broken. The normal passive optical network (PON) system operates at wavelengths that do not meet the reflector condition with a small attenuation through the reflector, the reflector to achieve the monitoring function at the same time, without interference or loss of flow. 1650nm optical fiber grating reflector, the grating reflection wavelength of 1645 to 1650nm, meet the Prague condition of the optical signal will be returned along the input path, while all other wavelengths of light (1260 to 1625nm) can pass. If the input optical signal band can detect the optical grating reflection peak of the band, it can be judged that the transmission path is normal. Conversely, it is abnormal.
