Fused biconic tapered (FBT) Splitters are made by bundling two or more optical fibers together and then fusion stretching them on a taper pulling machine with real-time monitoring of the change of the splitting ratio, after the splitting ratio reaches the required level the fusion stretching is terminated with one fiber retained at one end (and the rest cut off) as the input and the other end as the multiplexed output.
The fused and stretched fiber device adopts unique material and manufacturing process, which can precisely control the fiber coupling, encapsulation, as well as the guaranteed insertion loss, wavelength-related loss and polarization-related loss. Pull-tapered devices can be flexibly configured according to different splitting ratios, operating wavelength ranges, connector types and outer packaging forms, and can be quickly applied to a variety of product design and project planning, and are widely used in limited television transmission, local area networks, and other optical communication systems to split and merge optical signals.
